Rooms in the Grand Hotel
Introduction to the Grand Hotel’s history of receiving foreign dignitaries, including the President Eisenhower Suite ~ ~

Rooms in the Grand Hotel ~ ~ President Eisenhower Suite

Intrigued by its high sounding name, we visited the President Eisenhower Suite next. According to the general foreman Mr. Chen, who gave us the tour, the President of the Philippines, the U.S. President, and the President of Peru, to name a few, had each made a stay in the presidential suite. We also learnt the proper way to enter the suite:

5-2-1

First, we must knock twice on the door and enter only when we hear the guest say, “Come in.” However, if we hear no reply, we should press the doorbell and enter when the bell rings. Furthermore, we must open slowly the door as the guest may still be changing inside.

Entering the suite, we first came to the living room with a television set. Unlike homes that may have more than a hundred channels, the hotel has only thirty-five channels, the reason being that the law prohibits restaurants and hotels from having more than thirty-five channels.

Otherwise, they will be fined. The system of this five-star hotel uses satellite TV, including CTV, CTS, and TTV. Although the mainland channels and the mainland satellite have increased the number of channels available, the guests still complain about the limited number of channels. In addition to the TV, the hotel provides a humidifier for the guests, as the living room is generally the most humid room. Further in, we came across a bedroom of more than thirty pings with two double beds! The fairly new furniture had been renovated fifteen years ago, and the hotel provides Simmons mattresses and harder beds. In addition, the Tai Mattress provided can be adjusted to meet the guests’ requirements.

Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom with a Jacuzzi, merging the wet and dry environments. Bath salts are always made available to guests, and the minced toilet is regularly disinfected. In the winter, the seat’s temperature can be adjusted for comfort! In addition to a bathroom locker for the bathrobes and scale, we also found a safe, something every five-star hotel has for the guests to store their valuables. We also noticed, just as were about to leave, a cupboard inside a dark brown bulletproof limousine model, which Mr. Chen told us was used to pick up and drop off the president. And beside the cupboard was a refrigerator. Mr. Chen asked us to guess the price of a soft drink in the refrigerator. After we made many guesses, he finally told us that a bottle would cost at least a hundred dollars. Such a luxury for the presidential suite!
