Standing on the peak of Chientan in Taipei, the Grand Hotel building combines the features of the magnificent Western buildings and the quaint Eastern architecture. Once assessed as one of the world’s top ten hotels, Grand Hotel not only is an EXTRAORDINARY SPLENDOUR in the development milestone of international tourism, but its antique ambience and magnificent momentum are yearned by the locals and foreigners alike.

The beautiful decoration of the Grand Hotel with its kind quality service is one of the reasons why it has had a seemingly endless number of customers.

 

Only high-ranking persons may stay in the magnificent and unique President Eisenhower Suite of the Grand Hotel. It is located on the 12th Floor, covering about a quarter area of the entire floor, and is separated from the outside by an exclusive door. In addition to the master bedroom, there is a reception room, study room, accompanying family bedrooms, and a dining room to accommodate ten to twelve people for meals. A special electric stove set provided in the pantry lets foreign guests cook their own food.

 

In the initial stage of its establishment, the Grand Hotel had only the main building, containing sixty-five rooms. Through continual growth each year, it has gradually expanded to include the Golden Dragon Restaurant, Tsui Fung Hall, Unicorn Hall, the twelve-story building, and so on. The Grand Hotel now has 490 guest rooms, making it 7 times bigger than it was in the initial stage.

 

Over the years, the state heads and sub-heads of every nation visiting the Republic of China almost without exception have chosen the Grand Hotel as their temporary office during their visits. The first state guest was the King of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi who visited in 1958. Next came Jordan’s King Hussein, the Philippines President and Mrs. Garcia, U.S. President Eisenhower, Vice President of Bolivia Leiqin couple, the King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen, South Korean President Park Chung-hee, wife of Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu, Vice President of the United States Agnew and his wife, the King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, U.S. Vice President Rockefeller, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, President of the Republic of South Africa P.W. The Grand Hotel has had a glorious history and was the dedicated “guesthouse” of the country for receiving foreign dignitaries. Now the mysterious veil has been discovered, and the Grand Hotel’s door is open to all visitors, who are free to explore every corner of the Grand Hotel full of stories and experience the once mysterious and unreachable honor.
