Apply School Learning on Community Cultural Activities
Hsiyang Junior High School participates in the Village Arts Street Parade activity every year. They mostly send 8th graders to participate in the activity. In this parade, we learn how to apply the painting, music and performing arts that teachers have taught us in the arts textbook, to create the contents of this parade activity. A few weeks before the activity, our teacher told us that we could combine elements of Hsichou Cultural Festival to participate in the Internet Fair of Local Music Arts. We were very interested in this, so we started to work on this series of data.
Promote Hsichou Village Arts
Village Art Street Parade is one of the Hsichou Cultural Festival activities. Everybody agrees that since we decided to do this, we should do the best we can. We start to look into all activities in Hsichou Cultural Festival including questionnaires for producing cultural season. This series of feedbacks from interviews show us people’s honest thinking. We hope people will understand our results, and come to visit this beautiful village, Hsichou, more. Also, we hope they will appreciate these special local arts, and introduce these to other people.
Promote Arts to Spread Among People
Art has been inseparable with our culture since mankind appeared. Village life is still full of the ancient wisdom life aesthetics of twenty years ago. The life aesthetics, which connects the past to today, is interpreted as retro art. That is current in Hsichou. On the street of Hsichou, we can see village arts merge with living everywhere, so that everyone is inadvertently infected with the breath of beauty. The “Stand in Field” photograph exhibition of Liang-yi Chang was to show the elderly, who have never been to an art gallery, an exhibition reflecting that art is not an enjoyment only meant for city people. Villagers can leisurely walk on the sides of the rice field and appreciate the pictures taken of villagers who work and struggle as hard as them.
Finding the beauty of countryside
We can see cropland everywhere in Hsichou, and this is the most important part of Hsichou, but hard-working villagers do not have leisure time to appreciate this beautiful farmland. Through local arts, we want to provide a chance for local villagers or tourists, whether they take time or use their tour to visit, to linger over the beautiful scenes, enjoy the village’s charm, and experience this special simple village. |
