Although “Coffee Shop” was introduced on Douliu tourist guides, it was not on our visiting list. However, it was not until entering this plain-looking café on the second floor that we found out the uniqueness of this antique café.

Mr. Chuang, the owner of “Coffee Shop” is a coffee and music enthusiast. It has been over 30 years since Mr. Chuang stepped down from the business world in the 1980s and opened this café. When the dim light was peeking through the leaf-like wire lamp cover onto the red carpet, along with the melody of American pop music from the 70s from the speakers, time seemed to have been paused.

After a photograph with Mr. Chuang, sitting in this 30 year-old café on a petite leather sofa with a warm cup of coffee on a tranquil afternoon created a memorable and relaxing afternoon.

“Coffee Shop” is a Japanese style café with the atmosphere of Kyoto. I believe the frequent customers often enjoy chatting about the old Showa style café in Kyoto with the owner while he passes “oshimori” (wet tissues) to them.
“Coffee Shop” is perfect for those who would like a quiet environment to ponder. It is such a blessing for Douliu to have such an unique Japanese café.
