Social Studies Fair

(Tsung-chun)

During this year’s school anniversary week, we created a series of exhibitions for the Social Studies Fair : “Organic agriculture vs. Toxin-free agriculture”, “Good Tasting – The Secrets of Local Fruits”, “Food safety certification labels”, and book recommendations.

We hope that through our exhibitions, the students can learn about the difference and similarity between organic and toxin-free farming. Consumers should not only consider the price or taste when buying fruits and vegetables, but also food safety. Taiwan has a subtropical climate, and can produce fruits all year round. Best of all, we have hard-working farmers who strive to produce the best-quality fruits. Faced with the current food crises, we should learn more about food certification labels. Through our sharing, we hope to enhance the public’s knowledge on food safety.

We have learned a lot from preparing for these exhibitions, from collecting materials, making posters, to selecting publications and books. We hope to urge everybody’s attention to the food crises and our living environment. By so doing, we may have a better chance of preventing future crises.
