◎Shang You Farm Restaurant:

Address: No.25-8, Tongmen, Xiulin Township, Hualien County

Shang You Farm is located in the vicinity of Mukumugi Natural Ecological Preserve, right by Tong-men Bridge’s western bridgehead, on the shores of Mu-gua Stream. It boasts spacious premises of almost 2000 ping, provides ample parking, fresh air, beautiful surroundings, and is the topmost choice for either dining, recreation or overnight stays. The owner of Doyong Masan is a Truku tribesman who inherits the tribal characteristic of loving to share, which is why he shaped this beautiful piece of land into a restaurant, bed & breakfast, and provides parking, transportation connections and a resting area for in-depth traveling groups.

The aboriginal cuisine offered at Shang You Farm is free of MSG, and the delicious flavors of the healthy meals served at Shang You, beloved by many visitors, come solely from the fresh produce either harvested from the wild or locally grown and clean mountain spring water. Shang You Farm has planned and developed a health and recreational park that at the same time offers ecological and cultural tours, a place where visitors may learn all about Truku culture, its ecological environment, and the wisdom that comes from truly understanding our mountains and forests.[up]

Hongye High-raised House Restaurant:

Address: No. 47-4, Hongyeh Village, Hualien County

Under the leadership of Mr. Rong-hui Lin, “Hongyeh Community Development Association” established “Hongye High-raised House Restaurant” in May of 2007, and the association has since then striven to develop a highly unique “community in-depth tour,” that seeks to rejuvenate the local economy by bringing visitors to the region, so that more people learn about the Hongye area and the tribal culture of the Truku people.

“Hongye High-raised House Restaurant” is named after a large patio built inside the restaurant, and it is an especial pleasure to dine on that spacious patio. The aboriginal dishes offered at Hongye are tasty but affordable, the ingredients of which entirely come from produce gathered, grown, or harvested from the mountains by residents of the community. It is a great pity that, due to shortages in funding and manpower, the restaurant is no longer open to the public, but the Community Development Association continues its work in caring for the local people, and also provides warmth and nourishment to socially vulnerable and elderly villagers by turning daily meals out of the restaurant’s kitchen.[up]
