Actively Promote and Exchange Chang Rao Hakka Culture Home and Abroad
The corps visited Mrs. Qiu’s work studio, in which stood a row of DVDs on the shelf. There were at least 2000 pieces of 4.5G DVDs that contained precious photos and video recordings; and there were photos on the wall too, no matter big or small, as well as cardboard photos and posters, 5 boxes of pictures...it was really impressive! It all recorded Mrs. Qiu’s efforts on promoting local literature and history as well as Hakka in recent years. The corps asked how these photos came to being? Mrs. Qiu smilingly introduced the gentlemen husband beside her, Mr. Mingqin Yang, and said that he has been a good photographer and a thoughtful driver. If it is with him, there wouldn’t be any problem. As for the uploading and image editing tasks, they rely on the three handsome man and beautiful ladies behind her---her yettie son Wenjia Yang, her senior high school Chinese teacher daughter Huini Yang, and her second daughter who studies at the Department of Chinese at Taiwan Normal University. Mrs. Qiu even said that they are the bests of the best that Yuanlin History Studio ever has. A picture says a thousand words. Mrs. Qiu took one photo and talked about the oversea cultural exchanges in recent years. Several years ago, a group led by Xuejia Fang from Guangdong Jiaying College visited Changhua Yuanlin and Yongjing Hakka villages, and Mrs. Qui was the guide. February 2014, she visited Raoping ancestral houses in Guangdong Province and videotaped many things about local Raoping Hakka development. September 2015, hundreds of Hakka scholars from home and abroad gathered in Yongjing for academic forums and field trips. Mrs. Qiu guided the guests and directed the Hakka performance for evening party, which won positive applause. In November, the Cros-strait Wuxian God Cultural Exchange Event took place in Puxin, Changhua County. There were almost a hundred visitors from Guangdong Raoping and Fujian Zhaoan, and Mrs. Qiu was the goodwill ambassador. During the event, Mrs. Qiu was invited by journalist Zhan from Global Hakka Post to contribute an article. Mrs. Qiu praised the corps, saying it was impressive that they spent six months working diligently with her and setting up the website Mrs. Meidu Qiu---the Lady That Successfully Revives Changhua Raoping Hakka in both English and Chinese under the three teachers’ help for national and international contests. It is the best act to revive their ancestors’ language! As for the exchanges between other cities and counties, they are more frequent. Mrs. Qiu took out the workbooks and guests’ books, counting that there were at least a hundred exchanges in the past four years, most of which were Hakka scholars from other cities in Taiwan, including teachers’ group from Taoyuan Raoping Hakka Teaching Resource Center, Hsinchu Raoping Hakka Cultural Association, Guanghua Lin, former Governor of Taiwan, and his family from Hsinchu Liujia, Professor Guirong Xu couple, Dean of Hakka Department from National United University---Mingzhong Zheng and his team, Professor Zhiyu Wang from Fnegjia University and his team, Professor Xueji Xu and her team, Professor Yingzhang Zhuang and his team, Professor Sufeng Chang, Professor Yingxun Chen and her team, Changhua County Hakka Consulting Group, journalists from different media, and the Chang Raop Hakka Junior Corps as well as teachers from Jing Siou Elementary School.... Mrs. Qiu said that though she lives in a humble house, she has nice, like-minded visitors, which colors her life a lot.
