Branch the Revival Out
As the Corp went further into the interview, they felt they are lucky because Mrs. Qiu is Section Chief of Information in Counselor’s Office and also a local language (Taiwanese) classes’ teacher for ten classes. When we asked her about the progress of Raoping Hakka revival, she showed us many reports on it. She said she felt like a locomotive running steadily along the rail track of revival. She, alone, applied for resources, took down the results, implemented three level of revival and at last, two thousand or so people came back into the embrace of Raoping Hakka.

1. First level – Entry Level of Revival: Introduce to the public about Changhua Raoping Hakka, lead them to find their own identity as Raoping Hakka and teach daily Hakka conversation
(a.) Instructed Raoping Parent-child Team to promote Raoping Hakka to two thousand teachers and students during morning assembly.
(b.) Instructed Raoping Parent-child Team and Story-telling volunteers to teach students to speak Raoping Hakka in morning self-studying time.
(c.) Fused technology into teaching materials, such as school website, Yuanlin Hostory Studio Blog, YouTube videos, Facebook Raoping related groups, Line raoping related groups.
(d.) Recorded Changhua Raoping Hakka audio teaching materials and played it at noon time.
(e.) Promoted Hakka via TV, news and newspapers, etc.
2. Second level – Plowing Level of Revival: Look for resources and apply to open Raoping Hakka Parent-child class
(a.) Volunteered in opening Hakka certification course for children: from March 2015 to May 2015, on Mondays with 30 students. The teaching contents include Come Visit Me, Eat Something, Wear Clothes, Draw Cars and Go Fishing
(b.) Opened Student Roaping Club: from September 2013 to June 2014, in morning self-studying time at 7:55 to 8:35. There are 10 third graders on Tuesday and 12 fourth graders on Tuesday. All of them obtained Hakka certifications by Hakka Affair Council.
(c.) Opened Parent-child class after class: The first phase of the course was applied from Hakka Affair Council and started from March 2014 to May 2014, after class, from 2-4 p.m. on Thursdays. 22 of the parents-children had passed Hakka certification exam, and most of the students had passed six accents Hakka exam which added up to 100 certifications in total, and they had a wrap-up presentation. The fifth phase was applied from Ministry of Education and started from September 2015 to December 2015 on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. with 32 students. The students participated in performances, reading and speech contests and won 3 golden medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals which attracted media’s attention.
(d.) Opened Parent-child class on summer break: 1. The second phase of the course was applied from Hakka Affair Council. It started from July to August in 2014 on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. 22 of the parents and children passed Hakka certification exam and most of the students had passed six accents Hakka exam which added up to 100 certifications in total, and they had a wrap-up presentation. She instructed students to compete in national Hakka tests and their performances were outstanding. She also instructed students to perform on World Mother Language Day in Changhua County which attracted media’s attention. 2. Cooperated with Zhoulan Raoping Master to apply from Hakka Affair Council for opening the third and the fourth Having Fun Learning Hakka Parent-child course. From July to Ausgust in 2015 on Wednesdays from 8 to 11 a.m. with 50 students. They were taught to obtain Hakka certifications and perform.
(e.)She hoped to cooperate with Zhuolan Raoping Hakka Master to apply for summer break courses in 2016 from Hakka Affair Council. The courses include the six phase of Hakka Ingrained Parent-child class in Puxin Wu Feng Elementary School, the seventh phase of Beginner Parent-child Hakka class in Jing Siou Elementary School, the eighth phase of Intensive Parent-child Hakka Learning class in Jing Siou Elementary School, the ninth phase of Xing Xian academy of classical learning and Parent-child Learning Hakka classes (mainly in Yuanlin and Yuying Elementary School).
3. Third level –Elite Level of Revival: Form Chang-Rao-Hakka Junior Corp and Parent-Child Team and train them from time to time to accomplish promotion task.
(a.) Volunteered in guiding the Corp and Parent-child team to perform through different ways to revive Changhua Raoping Hakka: In September 2015 until now, they have been on promotion in classes with Story-telling volunteers; in March 2015 on Chunghua World Mother Language Day, in November 2015 they went to promote in Renli Community in Puxin and Fuxing Community in Yongjing, and in December, they went to Wufeng Community in Puxin and Tongan Community in Yongjing. With a combination of bamboo clappers, Chinese traditional musical instruments, saxophones, folk dance and drama etc., their performance takes a wide range of forms. On January 31st, 2016, they were invited to Nanping Community in Yuanlin, on Febru ary 7th, on New Year’s Eve, they were invited to Yongjing Street to perform and then on February 21st, on Changhua World Mother Language Day they performed and set up booths to promote; on February 23rd on Hakka Week in Jing Siou Elementary School and February 27th on Changhua World Hakka Day, they gave speech and taught Raoping. Hakka Television heard about their accomplishment and went to school for receiving an interview and was invited to take part in one program in 2016.
(b.) Volunteered in instructing the Corp and Parent-child team to enroll in competitions: In September, 2017, six parents and children enrolled in the first Raoping Hakka Debate in Zhoulan and performed nicely. In November, 2015, 16 parents and children competed in the eighth National Raoping Hakka Reading and Speech Contest in Hsinchu and won won 3 golden medals, 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, 4 premium awards and 5 merit awards. One of the Corp members –Ningyu Chen – will be competing in Hakka Reading in National Language Text Contest in May 2016.
(c.) Volunteered in instructing them to pass the certificate exam by Hakka Affair Council: 30 students had passed Hakka certificate exam for children, 100 or so had passed Hakka Basic Hundred Sentences certificate exam,4 of them passed intermediate certificate exam, and two of them went through exam staff training for Children Hakka, and are still receiving higher training.
