The only landmark in Taiwan that allows visitors to enter, the Tropic of Cancer Solar Exploration Center is located in Shueishang Township, Chiayi County. It is exactly within the area where the Tropic of Cancer passes through. Rongdian Road, which is in the opposite side, can lead to Shueishang Airport. With No.1 highway passing by, the Center is not only an important sightseeing spot but also a place we Chiayi citizens take pride in.

I grew up at San-hoe village in Shueishang Township, which is only minutes away from the Solar Exploration Center. The previous Solar Exploration Center was nothing but a memorial landmark without any interesting facilities for us to stay. It was not until I went to elementary school that the Chiayi County government began to spend money restoring and formulating it to be the Solar Exploration Center for recreation and learning science.

I am lucky that my house is near the Tropic of Cancer Solar Exploration Center. I don’t need to drive a long distance like some of the visitors who come here for special trip. Besides, the school I attended, Bei-huei elementary school, lies right between the Solar Exploration Center and Shueishang Airport. I often visit or join activities here. I like this place because it is becoming interesting and fun. Therefore, we decide to introduce this fascination ‘good place’ to the public, hoping that they can share and enjoy our happy paradise.
