Greeting

Writer: You Wu, Powerful Finger

Good afternoon, Director Lin. We are members of Children Orchestra. We would like to ask you about the history of Children Orchestra. You were the first instructor for Children Orchestra, and you have been always helpful for all the related stuff for the Children Orchestra. Though you haven't been the conductor a period of time, we still admire you. We'd like to ask you a few questions.

How did you feel when you first lead the band?

Children Orchestra was the school band. When we found out that there were competitions for orchestra, Children Orchestra was born with the support of Principal Wang. That was the second year when I came to Ping He.

Were you anxious or worried when you led the Children Orchestra? Why?

Actually, I was more excited than anxious. At the beginning, I taught and learned at the same time. In fact, we were under a lot of pressure at the beginning.

How did you conquer the problems?

I asked my teachers or discussed with other teachers. My love for music will never change. I always feel excited and content when play music.

You were in charge of Children Orchestra and the choir.
What are the differences between these two clubs?

What do you think about the differences? Bingo! One produces music by singing, by using your own bodies as instruments. The other makes music by playing the instruments. One big difference I found when I transfered from Children Orchestra to the Choir teacher, it's hard to control the key of human voice, but by playing the musical instruments, it's not a problem. But sometimes we would play the music too fast or had unstable rhythms, just as the choir would do. The difficulties in skills between two clubs were truly different. If you get chances, you can participate in the choir and you'll find out.

Did you have any interesting stories when you led Children Orchestra?
Could you share with us?

We once produced an album, which would be horrible if we listen to it now. Some ex-members would come back after they graduated. They were not alone when they studied, because they were accompanied by music. Some students continued practicing music, which touched me a lot.
