To the Xinsheng elementary school students:
There’s no end for learning. Always remember to “learn from books, people and things”
Best wishes and regards from Professor Lin
In addition to sending the postcards that Professor Apex Pang-Soong Lin gave us to our families and friends, and encouraging everyone to write their homeletter of Taiwan, we also gave away some postcards to the students transferring from oversea schools to our school. Some of them came to Taiwan to learn Chinese, and others came because their parents worked in Taiwan. By giving them the postcards, they could send the cards to their friends and families back in their home country for Christmas or New Year to express their blessings and longings. As Professor once said, writing cards carries more emotions, and with the postmark showing the time and the place, one gets to keep the print of history.

II. Charity Activity
The sixth graders in our school once held a fund-raising event inside the school. Each class donated all the money they raised from the sale to the social welfare organizations. This activity left a very deep impression on us, and we learned that happiness comes from sharing. Therefore, this time when participating in website design contest, we also used the opportunity of school anniversary celebration to sale the collection of the Soul of Taiwan post cards that Professor Lin gave us for charity. Out of our surprises, a lot of parents felt that the postcards of Professor Lin are very special and they also thought that our charity sale event was very meaningful.

That day, we raised NT 4,110 dollars in total and wanted to donate the money to the people in need. We saw a picture in chapter 6 of our textbook that said donate to "Children Are Us" which is a foundation that cares for people with intellectual disabilities. Our classmates felt it was a right organization to donate to and all agreed to donate the money that we raised from the charity sale to this foundation. We also sent a part of the postcards that Professor Lin gave us to the people at the second-hand bookstore stand that Caterpillar Philosophy for Children Foundation set up in the school anniversary celebration. They will distribute the postcards to the elementary schools that are in remote areas. Being able to help other people makes us feel so happy!

III. Questionnaire Survey
In addition to the voting, charity sale event and postcard sending activity mentioned above, we also wanted to know what people thought about the art works of Professor Lin’s. Therefore, also during the time in the Iron Man writing Camp and under the guidance of the teacher, we conducted a questionnaire survey. We started to work on the instruction, questions and statistical methods of the survey. After a lot of revision, the final questionnaire survey was done. We finally realized that this Cyberfair contest demanded a great amount of hard work. We needed to be more thoughtful in planning ahead and take more details into consideration. Though the working and learning process was hard, but as long as we worked as a team, we felt very happy and rewarded.

IV. Expressing through Songs
Many materials we studied stated that Professor Lin believed it was his father who had opened the door to the world of art for him and led him to see the colorful splendor of spring light. Often unconsciously he could not help but start humming the song called “Whenever opening my heart.” One day, Ueng , Yu-Chen suggested that maybe we could use a song to present the welcome page of our website. Everyone agreed and thought we should give it a try. When it came to selecting the theme song, simultaneously each of us thought of Professor Lin’s favorite song, “Whenever opening my heart.” We had the boys play the violins and the girls sing. We practiced for so many times, and our parents thought we were getting better and better. As a result, the decision to make this special song the background music of the front page of our website turned out to be a fantastic idea.
(Push the button. Then you can hear us singing the beautiful song.)
Whenever opening my heart, I see the colorful splendor of spring light.
Though spring is not eternal, but it rids me of the utterly bitterness within.
Where are you Spring? May you be forever in my heart. By opening my heart, I see the colorful splendor of spring light.
