the offerings to the gods at main hall

You can count on big crowds whenever you go to Lungshan Temple. No matter what time you go there, whether day or night, you¡¦re not likely to find a secluded spot there. So just imagine the throngs when a special festival is in progress!
But did you ever notice that the offerings to the gods that they set out at the main hall are different from those at the rear hall? At the main hall it¡¦s all fresh flowers and fruits, and
nary a hint of meat.At the rear hall, the offerings come in endless variety.

What¡¦s the deal? When we asked about it, our guide told us that it¡¦s because the main hall is dedicated to a Buddhist deity, and according to strict Buddhist doctrine, eating meat is forbidden. So if you¡¦re planning on offering something to the gods at Lungshan Temple, remember to keep in mind which religion the deity belongs to!
