Changhua County Mayor of Buxin Township –Chengyu Zhang   
Mayor of Buxin Township, Chengyu Zhang , said he had participated in many Changhua Hakka promotion activities with Mrs. Qiu and gave the credit of the biggest contribution to local literature and history to her. He also complimented her by saying that she is the most important Raoping Hakka teacher. He thanked her for giving it everything to assist in promoting the local language and culture of Buxin Township.

The Principal, Yueqiu Cai, thinks Mrs. Qiu has contributed a lot to Raoping Hakka. She said, at first, Mrs. Qiu did not know herself as a Hakka, but after participating in Hakka workshop, realizing herself being a Hakka motivated her to delve into her origination. She hopes that people follow Mrs. Qiu’s step and work hand in hand with her to awaken Raoping Hakka.

Mrs. Zhan said in a high volume, “Mrs. Qiu is awesome!” She sees something magical about Mrs. Qiu, who started from ground up and actually made it work. Mrs. Qiu proved it to us that many a little makes a mickle. In an era where Hakka is comparatively vulnerable, it is really an amazing job to be able to revive it. She is a role model to follow after. It is fortunate for us to have her so more people can get to know Zhuolan Roaing Hakka.

  Chair Person of Zhuolan Lord of the Three Kings Temple –

Chair Person –Yongsong Dai – couldn’t stop complimenting on what Mrs. Qiu had done to save Changhua Raoping Hakka. He said Raoping Hakka was like a desert, but in two year time, Mrs. Qiu irrigated it diligently and it grew oasis. Her hard work is to be praised, respected and learnt from. In the future, Hakka performance will be the main focus of the temple activity. Hope everyone can join hand in hand to help to revive the language.

  Chienkao Technology University Teacher–Weixiao Bai   
Mr. Bai kept complimenting Mrs. Qiu on the amazing job she had done to guide everyone to delve into their origination and especially to revive Raoping Hakka. As a literature and history author and a Hakka Mater, she could successfully revive what had already been lost for half a century. She really is a role model for everyone to learn from. By holding many Raoping Hakka activities, including activities in school and in community, she make a lot of efforts in reviving Raoping Hakka. 80 fellows, from children to the elders, knew nothing about Hakka in the first place but later on speak nice Hakka. Mrs. Qiu’s contribution to Raoping Hakka knows no boundary.

  Director of Changhua An Jiao Hakka Association –Jinxing Luo   
Director of Changhua An Jiao Hakka Association – Jinxing Luo – gave recognition to Qiu’s revival achievements, referring to her as an important Changhua Raoping Hakka irrigator. He encouraged everyone to learn Hakka from sites like Love Hakka website and Hundreds of Hakka Sentences Learning for Starters. One of the Junior Corp members Chen Ning Yu shared with us the experience of learning Hakka with Mrs. Qiu and said she would keep on getting certifications and participating in competitions. Mr. Luo said it was good to follow Mrs. Qiu’s footsteps. He also complimented Mrs. Qiu on her Raoping Hakka teaching material, saying that it is pure, to-the-point and there are detailed Mandarin phonetic symbols in it. Learning with the video attached to the books makes it easier to learn Hakka.

  Hsinchu Raoping Hakka Elder –Zhanglian Lin   
Mr. Lin said when he held the post of Hakka competition judge, what impressed him the most is that Mrs. Qiu brought five pairs of parents and children to participate in the competition and they all performed nicely. He got to know Mrs. Qiu, and found that from knowing nothing about Hakka to speaking it fluently, she became Hakka Master in just one year, opened Hakka classes and brought her students to compete in national Hakka competition. She is really a hard-working and diligent teacher. She gives it everything to pass on Raoping Hakka. She has got that kind of strong sense of commitment. She gives without asking for anything in return.

Director of Zhuo Lan Raoping Hakka Association –Qianqing Zhan – said that Mrs. Qiu is talented. She is not only good at compiling literature and history, but she is also experienced in teaching. She knows how to revive Raoping Hakka with the aid of technology; she also helped the Junior Corp with taking down the revival process, so the language can be spread widely. She is the kind of asset that we need. We really appreciate the efforts Mrs. Qiu made and that motivated us –Zhuolan Raoping Hakka Association – to put our backs into it. Mr. Zhan told us that Changhua, Zhuolan and Hsinchu Raoping Hakka share the same origination. With the time changes, those Hakka that moved to Hsinchu or Miaoli Zhuolan had preserved their mother tongue; however, those that stayed in Changhua had been assimilated by Taiwanese. Fortunate enough, there is Mrs. Qi who shouldered the mission and awakened Raoping Hakka. This is an essential mission for the era, and I am sure our ancestors are smiling down at her. Zhuolan Raoping Hakka Association will do everything we can to give her a hand in this.

Instructor Muan Lin told us from the first day Mrs. Qiu started teaching at Zhou Lan High School, she was pretty devoted. She often discussed with Zhuolan Raoping Hakka Association about how to expose Changhua Zhuolan Raoping culture and language to the public. She literally woke Raoping Hakka up. Zhuolan Raoping ancestors first settled in Changhua and later they migrated to Zhuolan, so Changhua and Zhuolan Hakka share the same root. In these two years, Mrs. Qiu’s effort in reviving Changhua Raoping Hakka has been paid off, as we all can see.

Chair Person Guanghua Lin knows from Line group that Mrs. Qiu not only writes a lot of works on Changhua Local literature and history, but also successfully revive Raoping Hakka. She is literally an admirable Changhua Hakka female role model. Mr. Lin held Mrs. Qiu in high esteem for her efforts in saving Yongjing Loyal House, which means a lot to the historical house’s offspring. Mrs. Qiu recorded his Hsinchu Raoping Hakka accent as her teaching material. That’s why people say sometimes you profit more from listening to a great person “talk” than solely from reading a book.

Director of Renli Community in Changhua Puxin Township – Baoling Cheng – complimented on Mrs. Qiu’s Raoping Hakka pronunciation and her brilliant way of teaching. The villagers all have a great time learning their mother tongue and getting to know their origination which mean a great deal to them. Mrs. Cheng thanks her for coming all the way down to Renli Community to teach Raoping Hakka.

When asked about his perspective on Mrs. Qiu’s success in Changhua Raoping Hakka revival, he said that the world is now trending toward preserving their cultures, and Mrs. Qiu did a great job. Just as Formosan Black Bears and Formosan Sika Deer were listed as endangered species and were protected, there is no reason why we should not protect our mother language. Mrs. Qiu had contributed hugely to revive Chnaghua Raoping Hakka and personally taught the language to pass it on. She really did a great job. He hopes that with her efforts, Raoping Hakka can be handed down to our offspring.

  Yuanlin Historian – Jiazheng Zhang   
Mr. Zhang values highly of Mrs. Qiu’s contribution to the local literature and history and complimented on her Raoping Hakka’s promotion in recent years. She can be regarded as the hugest driving force for Changhua Raoping Hakka to survive, and he said he would love to learn Changhua Raoping Hakka from Mrs. Qiu if he had time because only through knowing mother tongue could we know more about Raoping culture.
