Before we enrolled in Tianjhong High School, we already heard that our school has two campuses and we ever had our PE classes here, but the campus had no name before. One day, the Changhua County Magistrate announced that our second campus would be named after Jing Sung Culture and Education Park.

So we went to check the history of our second campus.

The piece of land, in the beginning, was planned to establish the second public junior high school in town. Since the development of Tianjhong was not sufficient and the problem of fewer children happened, this place was still in such desolation that it stayed undeveloped for years. It is located in the western downtown of Tianjhong and the size of the land is quite large. If it is not well developed, it will be very pitiful. With a view of this, the ex-County Magistrate Po-yuan Cho organized the local funds and the subsidy from the Central Government to build up the park.

The project was divided into three stages, and more than nine million sixty hundred thousand dollars were invested to develop this place. Finally, it was finished up in 2013. Inside the park constructed the gymnasium, Lung Chiang Hall, which is mainly used as a gathering place for cultural/ educational events and activities. Besides, there are also a baseball field, basketball courts, children recreation areas, and pathways to provide residents public space for exercise and rest.

Tianjhong this place has been developed by the early immigrants from Mainland China and local residents diligently to make it bustling. Among these contributors, the name of the doctor, Jing Sung Chen, was selected for naming the park.

To thank for Dr. Jing Sung Chen’s contribution to the medical circles in Tianjhong, the Changhua County Government specially held an opening ceremony for celebration. In the ceremony, the ex-county magistrate Po-yuan Cho, Dr. Jing Sung Chen, many of Chen’s family members, and a number of guests together to witness the historical moment. In the ceremony, various variety shows were performed and many volunteers cooked food to share with audiences.

An ceremony was held for the opening of the sport field. The ex-county magistrate Po-yuan Cho invited local leaders to witness the historical moment. There were many shows organized to perform in the ceremony, such as martial arts, aboriginal dance, band, and Aerobic dance…The audience all had a very good time.
