Soy sauce is one of the necessities for families in Taiwan. It's also an irreplaceable element in the  culture of cuisines. However, most people have no idea that how soy sauce is produced. It is really grateful for the motives of the principal of Sin Chia elementary school,who leads his teachers and students to find out the culture and brewing process of soy sauce. The teachers take their students to explore the history and culture of Black soybean sauce and experience the process of producing soy sauce. The traditional value of Black soybean sauce is spread out through the students with earnest attitudes in experiencing and hard-working.

Reflection of Principal

With the rise of ¡§flipped classroom,¡¨ the abilities for students of self-learning is getting more important. The purpose of the case study of Wan Wei Xiang Tradtional Saoy Sauce is to encourage students to go out of the classroom to observe, interview and record what they learn, to train their abilities to learn by themselves in the future, and to adapt themselves with this variable society. I especially appresciate the guiding and direcctions of the teachers for the studemts, and also the fully supports by Wan Wei Xiang Soy Sauce Factory.

Releaction of President of PTA

It is delightful to know that the students are going to have a case study on traditional manula soy sauce. Therefore, I provide the experiences of planting black soybeans and chili for students as reference and invitie them to join the harvest to know the labor and hardwork of farmers, hoping that it would give them the ideas of cherishing food. Hope that the information provided is useful for the students and thank for the teachers¡¦ directions.

Teacher 1

As I know, there are two famous soy sauce fatories in Houbi District. Students chose one of the factories and made a research focused on Wan Wei Xiang Soy Sauce Factory. It would enhance their understanding of daily necessity, soy sauce, and thinking of their hometowns in different angles.

There are many ¡§first times,¡¨including finding out the secrets of the production of soy sauce,taking students for interview and note-taking and participating international contests. All these ¡§first times¡¨expand the views of my students and mine.

There are many things to for the students and teachers outside the school.The growth and progress of students can be seen from the project, the heart of the sauce with distinct charm. They learned not just from the textbooks, but also make cuisines with soy sauce. What they learn is no longer judged by scores, but become the nutrition in their life. Therefore, although it takes time and hard work to do the records and reflections, it still worths for any cost.

In the process of making progress with the students, we fould that students reveal more passion for discussion and interview of extracurricular learning compared to what they learned from the textbooks. They learned not only the knowledge of soy sauce, but understood the laboring and hard-working of traditional soy sauce factories. They realized the spirits of diligence and insistence by the owners, which is the most valuable harvest for them.
