About us

Tenor Accordion concertmaster|Yun-Ruei Chang

My music-loving sister invited me to join Children Orchestra when I was in third grade. I didn't play the piano well so I learned it starting with some basic skills in accordion.
That contest we didn't won that year so I joined Children Orchestra with my classmates again. Ms. Fang-Min Liu was in charge of the Children Orchestra. I was assigned to tenor accordion. I learned much more than before under Ms. Liu's help. We practiced very hard so we thought we may get good result in the contest. But we didn't! We cried together that day and we decided to try harder.
Right after the contest, Ms. Liu started to enroll more student to join us. I was assigned to bass accordion this time. It was in charge of the harmony of a song. Ms. Liu rearranged The Phantom of The Opera for us. Other members and I practiced very hard on this song. Because of my good performance, Ms. Liu re-assigned me the tenor accordion. Ms. Liu said: It would feel better when we conquer the harder. I even practiced after school.
The teacher trained us by practicing some new pieces for the county sports meet and other concerts. We even filmed a TV show in PST at Nov. We were better and better. Thanks for Ms. Liu's hard working to get these opportunities. Our goal was to win the Min Sheng Elementary School and join the national competition.
The big day was coming. At that day, many parents came to help us to move the instruments. After we arrived, we started to arrange the seats. When we took our seats, we started to feel nervous. Our hard work of a year was for that day. 20 minutes seemed to be forever. We play the assigned song "English Folk Song Suite 3rd Mov." first which is a bright song. It seemed easy but it was full with our hard working. The next song is our elective song, The Phantom of The Opera, which rearranged by Ms. Liu. I was enjoying the mysterious song. We won the first place this time. We felt very moving at that time. We will do better to win the national championship.
