Poetry Groups

The Yu-Tsai Bookworms were very lucky to get a chance to experience a poetry club event on the 1st of November 2012. There were many people at this event. We got to learn more about ancient poems that we often study and some poems from different countries. It was a rare opportunity for us and we got a lot from it!

Vietnamese Poetry Night – 2012 Taipei Poetry Festival Activity

Activity

  • Date: 11/01/2012
  • Location: Small Small Bookshop
  • Attendees: Eva, Angela
  • Host: Zeng Shumei
  • Speakers: Zeng Nuxiang, Fengshi Lanying and Luo Yiwen

Bookworm Says:
The poetry events usually start in the evening so that everyone has time to come after work or class and today was no exception. After we arrived and found somewhere to sit, we turned over the introduction to the poems that were sitting on the table. The event started on time and the host, Ceng Shumei, introduced today’s guests. The people there shared the creative process and presented their poetry to everyone. We enjoyed the different cultures at poetry night.

This is my first time to attend a launch of Vietnamese poetry. Their poems are very vivid and impressive, and very emotional. The poems I have learnt in our school textbook do not evoke the same feelings. Experiencing poetry of different cultures has stirred up new and different feelings.
