Beginning

Sappho expresses her love of books through the bookshop abd through the editing class, the community can its love too. There is no teacher to student peer relatonship, instead it's writers and editors. The editors interact through tacit understanding. Small Small want to leave the bookshop and explore the interesting world together. They want to learn more about the community living together by looking for information and sites to visit.

Purpose

This course is for people who don't know where to begin, but are interested in learning to edit and create without commercial considerations.
Students from all walks of life learn about the community and develop a relationship with the community. A summary of the course is published in the Small Small Life Magazine.

On the 12th of August 2007 the first editing classes started. A group of people shared their life experiences together and their thoughts on life. Since the third round of classes, the course has been modified to create deep art.
Community Publications – The Small Small Life Magazine. Through making the magazine, each person can read stories about the community in one place.

Courses

Each course runs for at least 3 months. It starts with ideas and then moves onto planning, division of work, subject headings, interviews, writing, revising, and practice. Then finally the works can be edited and published. Therefore, the students on each course can learn the whole process for creating and publishing work.

There Are Three Kinds of Editing Class:

Editing@Small Small

Volunteer Basic Editing@Small Small

Time: 40 mins each time
Location: Small Small Bookshop

Limited to 5 people

 Editing@ the Community College

Lecturer: Sappho
Time: 3 hours each time
LocationL Yonghe
Classes: 18
Fees: NT $1500

Notes:

  • Individuals must pay for photocopying costs.
  • Classes cannot be signed up for one at a time.
  • For the editing classes at Small Small Bookshop, anyone who has done three courses can apply for free tuition.
  • Community college courses run until the writing is finished.
