In 1974, due to collapse of agricultural road to Majia the government relocated the entire village to 5km south of Majia Township Jiayi Village, along the Niujiaowan River, and built a new village. The new village was named“Fawan Village”to show continuation, and a Fawan Elementary School, police station, activity center, health station and two churches (villagers were either catholic or Christian) were built.Niujiaowan River flowed in front of the village while Wanan River flowed at its south. The East was blocked by mountains and the north held routes to Jiayi Village, thus it formed a enclosed paradise, which was well-received by the villagers even though transport was inconvenient.Since the 1980’s the road to Neipu was established and the mountain route constructed in the 1990’s allowed transport between the north and south.Roads to the east were also constructed to join to Wanan Village of Taiwu Township and the Jiama route which had been in place for some years could be use to travel to the deeper Majia Village. However with increased transport old traditions continue to fade away, and even though some totems still stand the sense of culture have been lost.

On August 1, 1992, due to the Elementary School integration program the village’s only educational facility, Fawan Elementary School was combined with the neighboring Jiayi Elementary School, thereby further increasing the loss of culture and led to decreased population due to relocations. The old elementary school site was borrowed by the Community College and since the words“Fawan” etched onto the school gates were no longer used, the historically important school gates were restored and forever changed. The majority of villagers now perform construction and labor, with some working in the orchid nurseries.Customarily close to new year the township would host festivals that were consider to be major events that even attracted villagers who have relocated, however in recent years it has become a formality and only competitions such as ball-games, shooting and weight-lifting can be seen. Thus to retain the formal glory and attract people for a lively event everyone’s hard work will be expected.
