More than 400 years ago the ancestors of the people of Qingye relocated on a number of occasions before settling on the site of today’s village . The village was named Qingye in 1976. As you travel along the “mountain highway” (Ping 185 road) when you see an eye-catching arrangement of river stones and a sign with a group of butterflies about to take to the air. This the eye-catching entrance to Qingye Village.
Qingye is a Rukai aborigine tribe village. Some houses are the homes of famous hunting families and their hunting exploits are recorded on the outside of the house in the shape of bears and deer.
A female artist in the village has made a striking butterfly window and a butterfly wall. Qingye Elementary School has made a butterfly ladder to link the school and village.
