¡iThe preliminary interview¡j

In order to have a further understanding of the Yi-Zhong street district, the initial field interview is a very important part. With a basic understanding, the following questions we make would be more precise so that it will not turn out to be just a pie in the sky.¡@

In July 3, 2013, six of us, nervous and desirous, were divided into 2 groups to visit the local venders and residents for the purpose of asking for their comments and advice on the environment of the Yi-Zhong Street district. In the beginning, we, without any experience, embarrassedly asked the first shop ,fearing being rejected. Fortunately, the salesclerk answered our questions with patience as well as kindness, giving us a big encouragement.Later on, the interview became more and more smooth. Moreover, we met some very ardent shopkeepers and vendors. They not only answered every question but also provided various local information and their personal perspectives as well. The most impressive person is a student who works part time in a toy shop at Yi-Zhong street district. She not only answered our questions but inquired for our scheme. Furthermore, she provided many suggestions and the possible problems after carrying out the plan. Last but not least, she even told us that we could ask her for help if we need any assistance. All of these made us touched and excited at that very moment. Indeed, we were refused by some of the shops or shoppers at times. Accordingly, we felt very frustrated at that time. Nevertheless, on the other hand, it’s a chance to learn. It enlightens us that not everyone in society has the obligation to help us. Therefore, we should be grateful for the help we gain.

As time passed, the number of people and stores we interviewed kept increasing. We even interviewed foreigners living in Taiwan. We were very excited when seeing them on the road at that time. However, because of our poor English , we hesitated to go forward for the interview. Unexpectedly, an enthusiastic couple asked whether we needed help or not. After listening to our purpose, they stopped the two foreign girls immediately and accompanied us to interview the two girls. In this initial interview, we experienced the enthusiasm of the citizens in Taiwan. What’s more, we encountered people who have the same concept with us. Their opinions will be applied in the latter questionnaire.
