Monkey Mountain, silently situated in southwestern Taiwan, is along the southwest coast of the second large city in Taiwan-Kaohsiung City. Monkey Mountain crosses two administrative divisions, and faces the Taiwan Strait, expanding south to the famous beach-Si Zih Wan Coast together with the Salacen head in Cijin Island, it embraces Kaohsiung Harbor. The crest line of Monkey Mountain is mainly about from north to south, and its total length is about 5.5 kilometers. The position is steep in the west and smooth in the east. As the western part of Monkey Mountain is close to the ocean, and the other three parts is connected with the plain, Monkey Mountain occupies a commanding position and plays an important role in coast defenses in the southern Taiwan. From west to east, its width is about 2.5 kilometers. The square measure of Monkey Mountain is about 1200 hectares, about one fifteenth of Kaohsiung City, and its highest altitude is about 360 meters, from which one can see the whole scenery of the harbor city.
