Interview Miss Jin Zi |
content: |
2006-12-24 Today our whole class went to visit still thoughts hall to make an interview. We were very nervous, but the buddhist nun was very nice to us. We asked her questions about the history of the place. They gave us plenty of answers to our questions. We think that if we could of done a little bit more preperation we would have had even better chance to learn and ask even more educated questions. If there was anything annoying about this project, it would have been putting together all of the paperwork after the interviews, but that was what we were assigned to do. |

Talking to the Visitors |
content: |
Today we went to Still THoughts Hall to interview visitors. When we had just got their we saw a large group of visitors. They were all from out of town. They had come by tour bus. As the interviewers we did not know what we were suppossed to do. We would slowly go through the scattered crowd of people looking for visitors to interview. The problem was that when I saw a visitor I was too scared to talk to them. Instead I would just stay where I was. All of my classmates know that I am scared of talking to strangers. They would tell me to relax and come with them. So I went with them. I took my pen and paper because I forgot to take a tape recorder. I was the one responsible for recording what the visitors said. When I was writing what they said I could never catch up to them and would fall further and further behind. I had to write at the same time ask them questions and at the same time respond to questions they might ask me. It was impossible. Because of this the first person that I interviewed was a disaster. I looked at my notes later and did not understand them. When everyone saw how hard it was they started to give me their suggestions. They said write their meaning only. I started to do that and the interviews went a lot more smoothly. During the process of interviewing I realized that I did not need to be scared of strangers. Everyone was very nice. There were even some that were so nice they feared itwas too dark where we were at to interview so they would walk with me to a better place to wriete. I finally understood that first you need to talk to somebody to see if they will be willing to interview. That is the only way you are going to find people to interview |
