In the morning of May 28th, 2006, Lian-Fa Rice Milling Factory held “2006 Taiwan-Japan Production and Sales Collaboration Harvest Ceremony” at” Dream Beauty” contract rice fields in celebration of abundant rice harvest. In addition to Lian-Fa staffs and contract peasants, Su Chia-Chuan (Tainan County Magistrate) Huang Shan-Nei (head of Tainan Agricultural Research & Extension Station, COA), Kuboishuu(Business Dept. Head of Nakashimamio Shoutenn stationed in Taiwan) all attended the ceremony. Su Chia-Chuan (Chief commissioner of Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan addressed a speech and complimented “Dream Beauty” cultivation and sales as a successful Taiwan-Japan production and sales collaboration example at his speech delivery. He hoped it would lead the agriculture industry in Taiwan into the international arena. During his speech delivery, he expressed that “Dream Beauty” was the first time rice was exported in small packages in 30 years and that he would go to Japan himself as a “salesperson (spokesman)”for “Dream Beauty” and awn (mango) products of Tainan County by the end of June. Nakashimamio Shoutenn Business Dept. Head Kuboishuu stationed in Taiwan said that Japanese variety “Dream Beauty” grown in Taiwan and sold back in Japan was like a daughter getting married in Taiwan and returning to Japan for a visit. He believed that it would receive warm welcome in Japan. Kuboishuu also said that Nakashimamio Shoutenn would setup a marketing and sales association with rice stores to recruit 10,000 household members to purchase “Dream Beauty.”
Finally, participants at the meeting proceeded to the rice field to harvest. They held “Dream Beauty” high above their heads which signifies abundant harvest. Hopefully, Taiwan Rice will follow this pattern of cultivation and go international in the future.
