◆《It started as a fertilizer dealer》
Nakashimamio Shoutenn Co., Inc. is situated in Kusatsu, Shigaken in Showa Year 33. [1958] The founder, Nakashimamio Shoutenn’s father Nakashimamio Bennchirou was a professional soldier. He was demobilized from the army on Taishou Year 2〔1913〕and started up a retailer store across from the Shigaken Kusatsu Train Station to sell grains and fertilizers. After the World War II, Nakashimamio Shoutenn left the army and returned home to takeover his family business. In Showa Year 33〔1958〕, Nakashimamio Shoutenn Co., Inc. was established with fertilizer wholesale as its main business scope. In time, the sales net was extended to Nara and Kyoto area. Eventually, it became a well-known fertilizer wholesaler in Japan.

◆《Engaged in rice wholesale and retail business》
In Showa Year 62〔1987〕 ,Nakashimamio Shoutenn’s son Nakashimamio Ryutarou succeeded as the second Company CEO . With the foundation that had been laid, the sales scope extended to Hukui ,Akida,Iwate,Miyaji, Yamagata, and some special contract areas. In Heisei Year 7,〔1995〕, after the Grain Act was amended in Japan, Nakashimamio Shoutenn began signing contacts with peasants of different areas and collaborated in producing and selling low-pesticide rice and special organic cultured rice. It stepped into the rice grain industry. By Heisei Year 10,〔1998〕Nakashimamio Shoutenn officially included rice wholesale and retail as part its business scope.

◆《Engage in rice variety research and development》
In Heisei Year 15,〔2003〕Nakashimamio Shoutenn bought seeds from the subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp.-Plant Engineering Research Institute and started business developments. A Seed Business Dept. was setup subsequently. Since rice variety research and development required great manpower and financial source, there are only 3 private companies in Japan that engage in rice variety research and development. Nakashimamio is one of them. Currently, Nakashimamio Shoutenn Rice Variety Research Center has successfully developed over 10 rice varieties with patents. “Yume Ka Ori”〔Dream Beauty〕is one of them.

◆《An enterprise covering 3 stages: rice plant, rice, and cooked rice》
Started as a fertilizer vendor, now, Nakashimamio Shoutenn has expanded and setup fertilizer, seed, farm produce, rice grain business departments. It also setup branch stores in Tokyo, Hukui and a rice variety research center in Saitamakenn. The business scope covers fertilizer, pesticide sales, farm produce and farming equipment sales, rice wholesale, and retail, as well as rice variety production, R&D, sales, cultivation guideline provision etc. It plans to collaborate with the food takeout industry to become a comprehensive farm produce company that covers 3 stages: rice plant, rice, and cooked rice.
