As mentioned earlier in Lian-Fa organization section, Lian-Fa is a family business. Chairman Chen Shui Sheng has been running the rice factory for over 50 years. At present, General Manager (GM) Chen Jien Do has also been working for 25 years now. The Japanese gives great importance to family passing-down. The second generation of Lian-Fa is keen on continuing business and the Japanese appreciate that. Meanwhile, they also expressed that the company believed in sustained business operation. Nakashimamio Shoutenn founder came to Taiwan in person to negotiate with the chairman. He requested to talk to the second generation of the Chens as he wished to confirm whether the second generation was keen on continuing business. After he got the answer he wanted, Nakashimamio Shoutenn then agreed to make arrangements with collaboration related matters.
　
◆《Lian-Fa is situated inside the Chia-Nan plain and Chia-Nan River Irrigation Zone》
Soil, climate and water are the first and foremost important natural elements required for plant cultivation. The reason why Nakashimamio Shoutenn collaborated with Lian-Fa is because it favored the desirable production environment inside the rice special area. First, the contract rice production area of Lian-Fa is situated on Chia-Nan Plain. It has always been the grain barn of Taiwan since the olden times. The climate and soil are ideal for rice growth. The rice fields reserved for “Yume Ka Ori” planting was even situated in the premium rice production area recognized by the government. Second, Lian-Fa regulates that contract farmlands have to be located inside Chia-Nan River Irrigation Area. The river irrigation water comes from Wushantou and Zengwun Reservoir and the water quality maintains certain standards. Also, Wushantou Reservoir and Chia-Nan River were constructed by Japanese named Ha Ta Yo I Chi during Japanese reign; it was one of the best hydraulic engineering projects in Southeast Asia at the time. “Yume Ka Ori” is irrigated by water from Wushantou Reservoir. ◆《Lian-Fa possesses state-of-the-art equipments and technical competence》
Lian-Fa Rice Milling Factory has passed CAS Good Rice Certification. One-line machinery and equipment are adopted inside the factory. It compares to operators inside Japan. Among these equipments, huller, rice refining machine, rice sorter, and color sorter etc. are high class machines made in Japan. Therefore, during the negotiation process, Nakashimamio Shoutenn only demanded the addition of one more rice sorter. Other than machinery and equipment, Lian-Fa produced Shan Shui Rice is CNS Class I rice. The quality measures up to Japanese rice. Lian-Fa has proven to possess outstanding management capacities and techniques.
