Orchid Island Lighthouse was built in 1982 on the hilltop at the northwest point of the Orchid Island. The lighthouse was made of concrete into tubular shape, and equipped with the new-type alternating current (AC) electric lamp with the rotated lens. The lighthouse shines four flashes every twenty four seconds with 1,200,000 candlepower light.

　　The lighthouse was equipped with two-way radio communications devices.
