Cilaibi Lighthouse

  Cilabi Lighthouse is located at Cilaibi near the Hualien Harbor. The tetragonal lighthouse was built in 1931 and made of concrete. The lighthouse stands 7.6 meters high. The lighthouse was equipped with the fifth-class acetylene flashing lamp, which flashed white light once every three seconds with 300 candlepower light.

  The lighthouse was heavily destroyed and stopped service hence during the World War II.

  In 1963, Hualien Harbor became the international port. To support the navigational needs, the Taiwan Customs started to rebuild one white pentagonal lighthouse near the site of the original lighthouse. The lighthouse was made of concrete, and equipped with a power generator room and dorms for lighthouse keepers. The lighthouse was completed in 1964. The lighthouse was equipped with the fourth-class electric lamp with white occulting light, which guided vessels with equal duration of three seconds between lightness and darkness by turns every six seconds. The light power reached 28,000 candlepower.

  One second-class radio beacon was set up in 1973, with output power of 300 Watt, and radio range of 100 nautical miles.

  One radar beacon was added in 1985.
