Theme: Wow! We finally decided to start! |
|
We
went online to search for a specific research topic, and discovered a
website, Online Fair of Taiwan Schools, which ties
research and websites together. The teacher suggested that we use
Kin-San-Main, the place we live, as our research topic, Wen Lee's father
and Mayor Wu, who are experts in this topic, agreed to support us.
So, we decided to sign up online. How exciting! |

Theme: The Record of Recruiting Members |

This afternoon, all the members in the group held a meeting to assign jobs for website establishment. Theme: The Experts on the Talk |
|
This morning, we invited Wen Lee's father Professor Dinzhan Lee, to give us a talk on history of Kin-San-Mian. Professor Lee's lecture was exciting, taking us into a time tunnel: back to a hundred years ago, when this area was established. People gathered together for religious reasons, and worked together to create a new homeland. Then, Professor Lee told us about how the formation of Science Park brought changes to this land. We got so excited that we couldn't wait to dig out even more stories about Kin-San-Mian. Professor Lee gave us many suggestions for research. We were very grateful, and we agreed to invite him over again next Friday. |

Theme: Out to Explore |
|
Today is our first real investigation with Kin-San-Mian expert, Mr. Wu, who will be our guide. We visited Five-step Crying Mountain, clear and beautiful Kuh-Zhei Lake Stream, and a village in style of Hakka, the Haakanese elders even showed us some interesting hand-crafted brooms! Finally, Mr. Wu took us to his home and his rice shop (also a Kin-San-Man's cultural workshop), and enthusiastically offered us comprehensive information on Kin-San-Mian. We were really touched. This adventure on which we gained a lot of useful sources is a great improvement for our website construction. |

Theme: Rescue of the Beautiful Stream |
|
On
the morning of December 9th, Professor Dinzang Lee came again to give us a
speech. He told us about the Kuh-Zhei Lake Stream's beautiful, but
unfortunate fate. First, the stream was almost dug out, and its future is
uncertain. It has sound so sad. Everyone enthusiastically began discussing
what we should do to protect this beautiful stream. We hope that we will
open this discussion on our website and will bring back this calming
stream. |

Theme: Kin-San-Mian's Cultural Soldier |
|
December 12, this afternoon our investigating team invited the manager of Kin-San-Mian's cultural workshop, Mr. Chingje Wu, to have a discussion. He introduced to us what he does in the cultural workshop and the condition at Kin-San-Mian community. We all admired Mr. Wu for his long-term investment towards to his research in the community. His love for his homeland deeply influenced us. |

Theme: The Combination of Life and Cultural History |
|
On the night of December 13, our other investigation team interviewed the chairman of "Kin-San-Mian Community complete buildup", Professor Dinzhan Lee. He told us about his experiences and his thoughts about the Kin-San-Mian Community complete buildup. We will later put our interview in this report. Other than the topic we discussed in the interview, Professor Dinzhan Lee gave us an important hint towards to our research. He said that the study of community cultural history should be combined with the lifestyle of the citizens to be meaningful. Therefore, while studying the cultural history of the community, we needed the help of the citizens.In one way to remember past, in another way to appreciate and protect what this land has now, and to create the modern cultural history for the future of this world. Professor Lee's suggestions made us realize something new what we actually only wanted to explore. The perspective of the human cultural background. Now, we prepared our research topic to cover more of the interaction between community and Science Park and its future outlook. Because we feel the relationship between this land and us is getting intimate. We feel the amount of things to do for this land increasing. We were planning, how to continue to get deeper in research of this topic. |

Theme: Trying to Meet the Deadline |
|
December 14, during the past few days, we had to hasten our researching because of our procrastination before. This afternoon, Wanroan skip the class to organize our information on Kin-San-Mian, and Enyo solved our problems with photographs. After school, Wanroan took home a big pile of newspaper cutouts and worked all night to meet the deadline. There were several other people who stayed up all night to work on this project, because there was still so much stuff we had to finish. |

Theme: Can Community and Science Park Work Together? |
|
On the morning of December 15th Professor Dinzhin Lee told us about the interaction between community and Science Park. He first asked us, what we already knew. Today, he brought some studies about the combined efforts of the community and the Science Park especially for us. We were very happy to hear about it. We were very eager to try to design a modernized and compatible department store for the Science Park. We hope that we'll have enough questions to discuss concerning this topic. |

Theme: Investigation of the Problem at Kuh-Zhei Lake Stream |
|
This
afternoon, the team responsible for investigating the interaction
between the community and the Science Park, Tien Tien and WanRoan, began
the investigation of the "Problem at Kuh-Zhei Lake Stream."
Together they rehearsed the interview for Hwa Ching Community Professor
Chungching Lu, because he participated in this project in the beginning.
Tien Tien is not very good at typing, so it took a lot of effort to type
up the questions for the interview. Next, she called to make an
appointment with Professor Lu. When the phone call went through, she was
blushing as she said, "I, I haven't prepared what to say on the
phone. . ." This sent us roaring with laughter. |

Theme: Interview with the Science Park Manager |
|
Today, our village lover investigating team is extremely happy, because we finally had an appointment with Science Park Manager Huang. We will set out at noon. We have five people in the group. Someone to do an interview, someone to take care of the tape recorder, someone to take a pictures with a digital camera and someone to take a notes on the interview. Basically, we were fully prepared for the interview. Manager Huang is a very nice person; when we interviewed him, he answered our questions very seriously. He wanted us to understand that the Science Park is determined to fully participate in the construction of Kin-San-Mian community, and that the two communities get along very well. It seemed that it wasn't just a dream for two communities to work together! We returned to school with our recording and a pile of notes. Now that we have information from the perspective of the Science Park, we think that a completion of our website is near the end! (But of course, the reality is uncertain. . .) |

Theme: Getting Treasure in the Science Park |

November
19 This afternoon, we went to the Science Park Administration to collect
more information. Mr. Wu and Mr. Way in the secretarial office were
interested in our project, and they gave us a lot of information on how
the Science Park helps its neighbors. Also, Ms. Lee, who is in charge of
landscaping in the Science Park, willingly took us to visit several
companies with good environmental efforts. Ms. Cia, who is in the public
investment team, gave us some wonderful pictures. Their encouragement
impresses us so much! It was as if we entered a treasure cave and found
countless treasures! These resources seemed even more valuable than
stocks. |

Theme: Interview with the Chairman of Committee Helping with the Construction of Kin-San-Main |

This
morning, we had another interview; the person we interviewed was the
chairman of the developing consular, Ms. Ciaofon Dwan. After this
research, we felt as if we had grown up. From the different perspectives
on the same subject, we learned to listen more and to listen to different
approaches. That is how we faced and took care of this situations more
candidly. |

Theme: Solving the Secret of the Spirit Spring |
|
This morning, we explored again awaiting and searched for the secret of "Spirit Spring--Cool Water Ditch Spring Water". Mayor Wu was again very helpful as he led us to explore. We went down the big sewer under the Chinhsin Lake. Wow, how naive some people can be! They are not afraid to wash their clothes in this "Stinky sewer"! As we were walking, we saw some elderly women bringing their baskets with clothes out. We hurried to ask them, "Do you know if there is a spring around here?" We didn't expect them to answer together, "Of course!" Then they pointed in the direction of a black water hole. Then, we ran towards the opening of the hole. There was an elderly woman still washing her clothes, so we ran to interview her. We didn't expect to discover the secret of the spring. Hurrah! It looks like there is hope for the repair of the spirit spring! Last time we interviewed the Science Park Administrator, he told us that he would be interested in repairing of the spring if the spring was still there. Wow! Maybe we little pawns actully accomplished something big. After the construction of this spring will be done, we will tell everyone the story and what happened today. |

Theme: Visiting a Factory in the Science Park |
|
This afternoon, Ms. Lee from the Science Park Administration office helped us arrange an activity to visit the companies with great effort on environment protection. We saw Hanming Technology; that office building is like a hotel. It is full of fresh flowers and paintings, and every floor has a different style. The smoking area outside is a beautiful garden, and there wasn't a piece of trash anywhere. These people truly value environment and safety! We
heard that there are quite a few buildings with such international
standards in the Science Park! Hearing this makes us so proud of Taiwan.
We decided to put these nice pictures on our web page so everyone can see
it. |

Theme: Not a good Christmas |

Silent
night is holy and peaceful. . . . . Because of trying to finish this
project, all the peace seemed to have disappeared! We must hurry to pass
on the plans and the newspaper cutouts! We finished! We succeeded! How
exciting! |

Theme: The Computer Experts Shows Their Skills |
|
The
computer group worked overtime this afternoon. We only have group
president, Enyo He, and vice president Shiyo Shen as our computer experts,
so all of the web page designs, files organization, and imaging processing
organization is depending on them. We can only stand to the side and cheer
for them! Web page design is so complicated that we spent a long time just
to create a button. We even worked after dark, so Shiyo's mother made
pearl milk tea to encourage us. She was so nice! |

Theme: Still Trying to Meet the Deadline |

Still
cheering for the people working on the computer! Computer graphics aren't
easy, so we rely on Photoimpact to help us work! There is still so much to
do. Oh! There aren't enough pictures. We must go back to the Science Park
Administration to get more. |

It is the last day! This morning we made one final check, and we found some things that still need improvements, for example, reducing, organizing, editing, art work, checking, adding etc. Finally,
our first web page is completed, this is so moving! |
