Manka
Lungshan Temple
There are
many temples in Taiwan dedicated to Guanyin, but there are only five built
during the Qing dynasty with “Lungshan Temple” in their name. They are
listed here together with the dates of their construction |
1.Tainan Lungshan Temple --- During the reign of Emperor Yungzheng (1723-1735) 2. Manka Lungshan Temple --- 1738 3. Fengshan Lungshan Temple --- 1740 4. Lugang Lungshan Temple --- 1768 5. Tanshui Lungshan Temple --- 1858 |
These temples may actually be somewhat older than the historical records indicate. They are all branch temples of Lungshan Temple in the port city of Anhai in Fujian Province, and their names indicate this relationship. |
